What to Expect

We’ll start slowly with a conversation to build trust. Dr. O will explain what he’ll be doing and show your child the various tools he will use. Next, the hygienist will clean and polish your child’s and inspect the for decay. If your child has fillings, the hygienist will check them to make sure they are intact. During the cleaning, the hygienist will remove tartar (mineral buildup), floss your child’s teeth, polish them, and if appropriate apply fluoride.

Then Dr. O will examine your child’s teeth, gums and jaw to search for any issues. He’ll share what he finds with you and provide useful guidance for ways to encourage healthy oral hygiene habits with your child. If he identifies a need for a more in-depth treatment plan, he’ll explain everything to you and answer any questions.
